I totally get the Lorre Love. There's a movie, currently on a Warner DVD, entitled THREE STRANGERS, with Sidney Greenstreet. It's been a mo since I have seen it but I am thinking it was either a Christmas Noir or a New Years Eve Noir, and I am hoping that it is eventually transferred to Blu.

Brett's masterpiece (yep, I said it) “Tabloid!” needs a re-release!! It seems to only have been put out on VHS in limited numbers around the time of release (1985). The only version available online is a muddy 2nd or 3rd generation copy with muddy audio.

Great to see Costner directing again! I'm looking forward to the next three chapters myself as this has been the best film I've seen in the cinemas this year! However, when it comes to length, I agree with you to some degree. A 3.5 hour film like "Killers Of The Flower Moon" flew by and I didn't even notice and feel the length, while "Oppenheimer" felt like 20-30 minutes could've been cut. It all depends on the filmmaker in my opinion! Costner is one filmmaker that I trust with the length!

I completely agree with your review of the film. Apart from the story, which is riveting, I felt, maybe for the first time, that I was truely transported back in time. Kevin Costner has managed to create a time machine that puts you directly into the mid to latter part of the 19th century. I have to see this movie again (and again)

Short answer…..it’s good, really good, yes it’s 3 hours, and could have easily sat for the next 3 hours. Go see it. If only because they say not to, but also to support a man who has given us so many great movies

Costner's greatest achievement? As far as a western movie, he directed, absolutely! This movie is cinematic gold!!! This Chapter 1 is phenomenal and flawless! How anyone could ask for anything more is ridiculous. When this is all said and done, I believe this will be the greatest western work to ever be put on film! Go see this movie! No CGI, just awesome, realistic, period-correct movie making. EPIC!!!

I already had the blu ray of the extended and directors cut of Superman 1 and was able to find the metal case version of the Superman collection so I used that metal case to store my blu ray supergirl, the Steel dvd the dvd case I used to keep two of the bonus disc (already had the third disc sold separately) and keep it right next to the steelbook case version of the 4k

Hopefully the studio doesn’t sabotage its success by sending it to streaming before part 2 comes out.

The Chase was previously out on Blu Ray and DVD on the Kino Classics label, OOP now I think?

I managed to check out NOWHERE SPECIAL during the one week it played theatrically in my area. I think it’s the best film I’ve seen so far this year. Incredibly moving without feeling manipulative or mawkish. Highly recommended.

So I just saw part one this afternoon and I was blown away. I couldn't get enough of it and I certainly didn't want it to end. I can't wait for part two in August. I've already pre-ordered parts one and two on 4K from Amazon Canada. After I saw your review the other day I was pumped!

Dragnet the original series was fantastic! Sad that only about 60 episodes survived out of about 200 but I still have hopes someone has preserved originals in private hands. He Walked by Night (1948) is also a favorite of mine which was the catalyst of the show and the Dragnet (1955) movie was also good. I would love to hear a discussion on this and Appointment with Danger so I will be tuning in to that.

As Carly Simon sang to James Bond, "Nobody does it better..." I prefer SPEED to BLOWN AWAY by a wide margin. I think its biggest plus is the chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. (That's the movie that made Bullock a star.) The intro by Martin Scorsese for PURSUED was recorded back when it was released on VHS. (He recorded his intro for FORCE OF EVIL around the same time.) THE CHASE was previously released on blu-ray by Kino Lorber with the same commentary and radio programs. Nice to see some love for Jeff Speakman. Finally, any insight why NUDE FOR SATAN was a DVD release? Any other boutique label would have released this film on blu-ray or 4K. They could have released it as part of the Kino Cult line.

Does it feel incomplete? I am worried that 3&4 wont get made and it will ultimately feel incomplete. if they never made Return of the King, Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers would still be good but the franchise legacy would be dead.

It is docunentary movie with female boss. So bad movie like Killers of the flower moon.

It's my understanding that the second Columbo set is the wrong aspect ratio. With the exception of like the last 2 episodes, they are full screen, but this set is apparently cropped to be wide screen. That's really unfortunate and a deal breaker for me.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE. Felt like a real trip to the movies. I cannot wait for Part 2.

Today is the 30th anniversary of “Blown Away.” I plan on watching my DVD copy. It’s been a while.

Hi Heath, the shorter vid format is appreciated. Narrow Margin is one of my favorite movies. I assume this 4K is from the StudioCanal scan (no HDR?) used for the previous Blu-ray. That Blu-ray, while better than anything that came before it, had some intermittant picture quality issues. Please review the 4K & give us your thoughts? It would be nice to know if the OCN, 4K transfer or Blu-ray transfer is at fault. Cheers!

I think Labels like Kino Lorber, Imprint or Indicator can`t thank you enogh for your videos. I am a huge fan of classic movies, but very often, I buy a DVD/Blu-ray just because you recommend them on your canal and I was never dissapointed and I am quite sure I am not the only one, who does that.

Thanks for this new spotlight, Heath! I'm glad you are continuing with them each month. I know about a good amount of the releases, but it is nice to hear your thoughts on them.

Please can you confirm about Columbo so the bellyaching can stop (or continue) about the aspect ratio. Message boards are rampant and folks saying that Kino dropped the ball on this release about using the wrong aspect ratio. I have preordered my copy but to some a deal breaker......
